Create a comic book character that challenges gender roles.
- Fill out character bio sheet
- Create sketches with levels and depths
- One small 2” x 2” sketch: character only
- One 5” x 7” sketch showing the character in action
- Number layers 1-5 on your favorite sketch; 5 for the deepest 1 for areas where you will carve in nothing at all or very little.
- Lightly draw outlines of your drawing onto your balsa foam piece.
- Carve your layers into your balsa foam according to your thumbnail.
- -Wipe away dust with a paper towel
- DO NOT BLOW THE DUST ALL AROUND THE ROOM
- Smooth and curve areas of your sculpture and give it appropriate textures.
- Paint your sculpture.
Your sculpture should be carved fairly deep, but if you go too far you will risk breaking the balsa foam. Carving and painting should be clean and detailed.
